Colorado State redshirt freshman center Weston Richburg was named to ‘s and Phil Steele’s first-team freshman All-America squads.
Richburg (6-feet-4, 292 pounds) was a 12-game starter, moving from guard to center by the fourth game of the season. Despite his inexperience, the Bushland, Texas, product was the bright spot on a rebuilt offensive line.
CSU’s last nationally honored freshman was linebacker Mychal Sisson two years ago. Sisson made the all-MWC second team this year.
Wyoming defensive tackle Patrick Mertens and linebacker Devyn Harris made Steele’s all-freshman squads; Mertens on the second team and Harris on the fourth.
