DENVER—The Salvation Army is struggling this holiday season to meet the increased demands and donations are lagging in the Denver and Pueblo areas.

The Salvation Army in Denver says that donations for the Christmas season will be nearly $1 million short of the goal. Donations to the Salvation Army’s red kettles are more than $115,000 lower than last year.

In Pueblo, the Salvation Army still needs gifts for half of the roughly 2,000 children signed up for its Angel Tree program. The tree is in the Pueblo Mall in front of the Sports Authority store.

Capt. Harold Laubach tells KKTV that people can buy a gift, put money in the red kettles or write a check to help.
