Vestas Wind Systems, the Danish company with 1,500 manufacturing employees in Colorado, received an order for 55 1.8-megawatt turbines, the company said Tuesday.

The equipment is for a wind-energy project in British Columbia. The contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2012, and commissioning is expected in late 2012.

The blades will be made in Windsor, towers in Pueblo and nacelles assembled in Brighton.
