An 18-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound died at an Aurora hospital Wednesday night after being taken there by an “acquaintance,” police said.

Aurora police were called at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to University of Colorado Hospital on a report of a man who had been shot, according to an Aurora Police Department media release.

The 18-year-old victim later died at the hospital.

Officers “recovered a vehicle in the parking lot that was believed to have been involved” in the case, police said.

Officers questioned the driver of the vehicle and he was released from custody.

Investigators believe the man’s death is related to a report of shots fired at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Lansing Street.

No arrests have been made in the case. The victim’s name was not released.
