Most of you guys were probably still in bed or opening gifts on Christmas morning instead of trolling around the Internets, which is when Gorillaz gave away their new iPad album away for free. Denver served as a recording spot for the cartoon band’s new track, “The Speak it Mountains.” The surreal Colorado backdrop you and I know as the Aspen forest got its own song, aptly titled, “Aspen Forest” — recorded in Santa Fe, actually. You can call it a comeback. A Constellations comeback

is back! After a three-year hiatus, the Denver band will perform its first comeback show on New Year’s Eve as part of the stellar line-up over at the — alongside , , and more. Reverb had a chance to catch up with the group’s Mark Shusterman, who told us how things got back on track for the experimental kids.

What brought the crew back for the NYE show?

“We have been playing around with the material that was leftover after we split. After finishing the recording process, we realized playing live was possible and fun.”

So what’s next year look like for Constellations?

“We still have plenty of material set to be released in 2011, and we are working on formulating a European tour this summer.”

The Chain Gang of 1974 finds a new label, forges a Ray Ban relationship

is set for a big 2011. News has it that Kamtin Mohager will be re-releasing his 2010 album, “White Guts,” in Spring 2011 with the help record label which is the home of Miniature Tigers. When if the re-release would include any new material, TCGO1974 said, “Yes. 5 or 6 (songs).” In the meanwhile, Ray-Ban (maker of hipster eyewear) has included TCGO1974 in its “Never Hide Noise 2” compilation.
