The Colorado State Patrol has identified a 57-year-old Las Animas man as the victim of a fatal four-vehicle crash that shut northbound Interstate 25 about two miles south of the El Paso County border for more than three hours Wednesday night.
William Grissom was driving an 18-wheeler International tractor and semi-trailer north on I-25 about 12 miles north of Pueblo when the crash happened shortly after 7:30 p.m., the patrol said.
A dual-axle flatbed trailer came loose from a southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup and careened through the median of the interstate before hitting the mail truck, troopers said.
The mail truck came to a rest in the median. The Silverado continued south to the nearest exit before returning to the scene, troopers said.
