Three people were shot and seriously wounded at a Denver duplex early New Year’s Day during a drunken party, and police are searching for the person who gunned them down.
The three victims, whose names were not released, were rushed to a hospital in serious condition, said Lt. Matt Murray, Denver police spokesman.
Their conditions were not known later Saturday.
Police were called to the duplex in the 900 block of Stuart Street at 2:34 a.m., Murray said.
The motive and circumstances of the shooting were under investigation. None of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening, Murray said.
There is a $2,000 reward. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
On New Year’s Day, children were sliding down a large snow-covered hill that started in the yard of the duplex where the shootings happened earlier in the day.
Beer bottles were lying in the front yard, and a front window was covered with plywood.
Keoki Nishihara, 23, who lives across the street, said there were about 10 people partying in the front yard, beginning about 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
They were drinking heavily, he said, which was troubling because there were several young children living in the home.
“They were drunk and yelling,” Nishihara said. “I could see them flashing gang signs.”
Early the next morning, shots were fired.
Nishihara said the neighbors moved into the house four or five months ago, and they frequently had loud drinking parties late at night.
