A Lakewood fire that damaged six apartments and displaced three families Wednesday night started in a bathroom exhaust fan in a basement unit, West Metro Fire Rescue said today.
The fire is the second in just over six months at The Pines Apartments caused by ceiling fans, the fire department stated. The other fire was on June 25, when six families were displaced when the fire entered the walls between two apartments and reached the attic.
The most recent in the 35-unit building started at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, when residents smelled smoke.
No one was injured, but a small pet dog needed oxygen and several cats were rescued.
