A truck spilled cooking oil on Friday, causing slick driving conditions for metro area drivers.

A truck from Recyc-Oil, which was heading to recycle the waste cooking oil, sprung a leak, spilling the oil on University Boulevard, near Quincy Avenue, and on Hampden Avenue.

A crew at the scene says the spill stretches for at least a half mile, including directly in front of St. Mary’s Academy in Cherry Hills.

A spokesman for Recyc-Oil says a valve on the truck was recently repaired and may have failed.
