DENVER—Incoming Gov. John Hickenlooper has a billion-dollar budget deficit to deal with. But his first order of business after giving his inaugural address Tuesday is lunch with about 300 schoolchildren.
Hickenlooper is having lunch with Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia and the pupils from across Colorado who entered a contest. The schoolchildren sent in projects designed to show innovation and their knowledge of local history.
Hickenlooper’s transition team judged the winners. Hickenlooper will talk with the winners over lunch at the Denver Art Museum after delivering his inaugural address.
