Denver remains in a deep-freeze, but warmer weather is on its way.
The low temperature this morning in the city dropped down to -2 degrees at 8:27 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Mostly sunny skies and calm winds in Denver today, however, will help temperatures climb into the mid-20s this afternoon, the weather service said.
And while it’s certainly cold, the record low temperature for Denver on this date – minus 25 in 1963 – was not threatened by the freeze.
Monday’s high temperature in Denver was 12 degrees.
The frigid cold will continue overnight in Denver, with a forecasted low temperature of 7 degrees, but the mercury is expected to rise above freezing on Wednesday.
The high temperature in the city could hit 34 degrees on Wednesday, and Thursday’s forecast calls for a relatively balmy high near 50.
