Highlights from the Legislature on Friday:
— Colorado lawmakers got training in ethics and sexual harassment as part of their jobs at the Capitol.
— Lawmakers met to try to reach a compromise on changing the way the state handles conservation easements.
New Bills
— Reduces the number of homeless youths by providing shelter and increasing the age for state assistance to 21 (House Bill 1079).
— Restricts funding to road and bridge projects beginning in 2015 to $10 million under Gov. Bill Ritter’s registration fee increases (House Bill 1075).
— Requires authorities to notify bail bondsmen if a person in the country illegally is charged with a serious crime (House Bill 1088).
— Adds hydroelectric power to the increased requirements that utilities use renewable energy (House Bill 1083).
— Lowers the fee for late registration of a vehicle from $25 a month to $10 a month (House Bill 1084).
— Bars top elected state officials from spending taxpayer funds for any print or media announcement (Senate Bill 59).
— Allows stores that can sell high-alcohol beer to sell low-alcohol beer (Senate Bill 60).
— Eliminates the authority of the governor to suspend or limit the sale or transportation of firearms during a state of disaster emergency (Senate Bill 53).
