LAS VEGAS—A city councilwoman who was a former Denver police officer was found dead with her husband in their home in the rural Nevada city of Mesquite.
A city statement says police found the bodies of Donna Fairchild and Bill Fairchild before dawn Tuesday at their home in their community about 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
Both had a single gunshot wound. But Mesquite city spokesman Bryan Dangerfield says it’s premature to call the deaths a murder-suicide until a Clark County coroner’s investigation.
Dangerfield says a Tuesday council meeting would go on as scheduled, with a moment of silence to mourn Donna Fairchild.
The meeting agenda shows she faced removal as the city’s delegate to the regional Nevada Development Authority business organization.
