Carmelo Anthony is going to . . . Los Angeles.
For the All-Star Game.
The Nuggets forward, who is expected to be traded by the Feb. 24 deadline, will participate in the Feb. 20 All-Star Game, the NBA announced Thursday. Melo finished second in the voting for Western Conference forwards (1,299,849), following Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant.
The question remains which conference Melo will represent if he’s traded prior to the game. According to the NBA, because Anthony was named a starter, he is guaranteed a spot. So, if he’s traded to a team in the Eastern Conference before the game, he will be added to the East’s roster.
In a statement, Anthony said: “Anytime the fans vote you in, it’s something special. I think it reflects the hard work of both myself and my teammates this season.”
The reserves will be announced Feb. 3. Denver center Nene might get a nod.
