The driver of a semi-tanker died when his rig crashed and rolled before catching on fire on U.S. 50 near Salida.
The semi was hauling fuel Friday morning on eastbound U.S. 50 when it drifted off the right side of the road while rounding a curve. The semi and tanker rolled and caught fire, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol. The driver died at the scene.
The highway was closed in both directions over a 6-mile stretch between mile markers 223 and 229, but reopened before 5 p.m.
