ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan’s football team will play its home opener against Air Force in 2012.
The Wolverines announced Friday they will host the Falcons on Sept. 8 that year, a week after starting the season against Alabama at Cowboys Stadium. The agreement with Air Force is for one game.
Michigan and Air Force have played once previously, when the Wolverines opened the 1964 season with a 24-7 win over the Falcons.
Michigan still needs to fill one open slot on its 2012 schedule, with nonconference games against Alabama, Air Force and Notre Dame set. AFA went 9-4 in 2010, capped by a 14-7 win over Georgia Tech in the Independence Bowl.
The Wolverines, 7-6 last season including a 52-14 Gator Bowl loss to Mississippi State, open the 2011 season against Western Michigan in their first game under coach Brady Hoke.
