LOUISVILLE, Colo.—Federal officials have closed FirsTier Bank in Louisville, saying the bank failed.
The closure announced Friday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is the second in as many weeks in Colorado. But Denver’s KUSA-TV reports that unlike the last time, another bank won’t take over the accounts. The FDIC says it has created the Deposit Insurance National Bank of Louisville, which will stay open until Feb. 28 so people can move their funds to another bank.
Federal officials say FirsTier branches will reopen Saturday for limited service.
Last week, the FDIC closed United Western Bank of Denver. Its assets were transferred to Raleigh, N.C.-based First-Citizens Bank & Trust Co.
Don Childears of the Colorado Bankers Association says most of Colorado’s banks are stable and have ample resources.
