MINTURN, Colo.—Beaver Creek Ski Resort has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Forest Service to upgrade one of its lifts in time for next ski season.
The proposed project would upgrade the Rose Bowl lift from a triple chair that can carry up to 1,600 people per hour to a high-speed quad that can carry up to 2,400 people per hour.
The project would include some timber removal and ground disturbance. District Ranger Dave Neely of the Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District of the White River National Forest says he expects “only relatively minor environmental effects.”
The public can submit comments on the proposal until Feb. 12.
