FORT CARSON — A Fort Carson soldier was sentenced to 10 years in military prison Sunday as a result of a double-fatal head-on car crash last year south of the base in El Paso County.

Spec. Jordan Peters, 25, of Vero Beach, Fla., had a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit for drunken driving when his Audi veered into the path of a flatbed utility truck on Feb. 13, prosecutors told a military panel at Fort Carson in the court-martial hearing that began Thursday.

The collision last year killed fellow Fort Carson soldiers Spec. Kale D. Clay, 23, of Boise, Idaho, and Pvt. Pawel Serafin, 28, of Hillsborough Township, N.J., in Peters’ car. The crash injured the truck driver, Jimmy Clift, 49, of Cañon City.
