A Colorado soldier was one of two GIs based in North Carolina who were killed in combat in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department said Tuesday that the soldiers died Saturday when their unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device.
They were 22-year-old Spec. Joshua R. Campbell of Bennett and Spec. Shawn A. Muhr, 26, of Coon Rapids, Iowa.
Both were assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the 82nd Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bragg.
Campbell’s family could not be reached Tuesday.
Muhr’s family said he had returned home on leave just after Christmas and returned to Afghanistan on Jan. 12. He joined the Army six years ago. The Associated Press
