Wendy Littlepage, director at the Denver Museum of Dolls and Miniatures is wondering today who would steal a vinyl banner.

“It’s such a pointless thing to do,” Littlepage said. “It seems like a lot of effort just to steal an old vinyl sign.”

This morning, when she and other staff reported for work at the museum, they discovered someone had ripped and stolen the banner that had identified the historic house as the home of the doll museum.

Littlepage said footprints of a person and a dog were left leading up to the house.

“Looks like they brought something to try to cut it with, because it was tied on wire and mounted on a metal rod,” Littlepage said.

She said she has not filed a police report yet because she doubts the sign will be returned.

Even if the banner is recovered, it was ripped in the process.

To complicate things, the high-resolution image of the logo that was used to make the sign 10 years ago is now lost. Littlepage said she would likely have to get the logo redrawn.

There are restrictions on the signs the 1899 historic building can use, but Littlepage said she may now look into something more permanent.
