BOULDER — Two women who died in a car crash Saturday on Colorado 93 were freshmen at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Driver Haley Hajek, an 18-year-old from Littleton, and a passenger, Brooke Riemer, a 19-year-old from East Troy, Wis., were killed. Another passenger, 19-year-old CU student Alexandra Cunavelis, was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver with serious injuries. Cunavelis is from South Burlington, Vt.
Hajek was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound on the highway near Coal Creek Canyon, lost control and spun into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Equinox sport utility vehicle.
