Denver in 2010 recorded its second-best convention year ever, logging 371,003 delegates bringing an estimated economic impact of $653 million to the city, according to VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The total was just 7,000 visitors short of the record set in 2008, the year Denver hosted the Democratic National Convention.
Nine conventions booked in the fourth quarter of 2010 — traditionally a slow time — helped boost Denver to its near-record year. No mega-conventions visited, but several brought significant dollars to the local economy.
The International Society for Technology in Education brought 20,000 delegates and an estimated $40 million economic boost in June.
Convention business finished strong with the SnowSports Industries America Snow Show — the largest booking in the city’s history with 19,000 people.
