ST. PAUL, Minn. — Will Peter Forsberg be at practice with the rest of his Avalanche teammates today at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio? As of late Wednesday night, the team did not seem to know.

But the Avs did maintain that they expect Forsberg to play in one of the team’s two remaining games on their four-game road trip — Friday night against the Blue Jackets and Saturday against the Predators.

Forsberg, who signed a one-year contract with Colorado on Sunday, was not with the team in Minnesota. He was still out of the country getting his working visa papers in order.

Forsberg, 37, applied for a P-1 visa, typically given to foreign-born entertainers and athletes to temporarily earn money in the U.S. and Canada. The Avs called it a “normal” process so far and reiterated they think he’ll play before the end of the trip.

Foote, Cumiskey hurt.

Avs defenseman Kyle Cumiskey suffered a head injury in the first period and did not return. The Avs had no further information.

Cumiskey missed much of the first half of the season with a concussion.

Captain Adam Foote missed the game with a foot injury and he’s listed as day to day.

Footnotes.

Scouts from five teams — Chicago, Atlanta, San Jose, Pittsburgh and Dallas — were at the game. . . . The Avs entered the game 5-8-1 against the Northwest Division. . . . Avs winger David Jones could have had a hat trick through the first 41 minutes, but had a goal waved off in the second period when it was ruled he knocked a puck in with his glove.
