Fort Collins Police Chief Dennis Harrison today told city employees he was stepping down after 14 years with the city.
He told the Fort Collins Coloradoan that he was ready for a change of pace and that he wouldn’t seek another job in law enforcement
“There’s nothing terribly sinister about it,” he told the Coloradoan.
Harrison, 56, was named police chief in October 1996 after working his entire career with the Scottsdale, Ariz., Police Department. He was a captain at the time he was hired by Fort Collins.
An interim chief had not been named this afternoon, and a police spokeswoman said the city manager’s office would release information on the transition and search for a new chief.
