Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said Thursday that he’ll be an advocate for bringing a new brigade of helicopters to Fort Carson.

If the Army decides to locate the brigade of 2,800 soldiers and 120 helicopters at Carson, it would be a huge boost to the Colorado Springs economy, and create hundreds of construction jobs.

“I will certainly try to figure out the best ears where my voice can be useful, and get my voice in front of those ears,” said Hickenlooper, during a media availability after he toured the post.

“My goal, I think Colorado’s goal, is how can we make sure we give Fort Carson our maximum support,” the governor said.
