A Denver District Court judge today delayed the trial of Angel Ray Montoya, the 25-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter, Neveah Gallegos, in 2007 before hiding her body in a culvert.
Lawyers spent this week selecting a jury to hear the case and had planned opening arguments for this morning. A health issue with one of the witnesses contributed to the delay.
The parties will meet Feb. 24 to reschedule the trial. Neveah’s mother, Miriam Gallegos, has previously been sentenced to 12 years in prison in January for her part in covering up the death.
