A 1,400-acre grass fire broke out this afternoon east of Sterling and crews say they have it 50 percent contained.
Bob Owens with Logan County Emergency Management says the fire is 11 miles east of Sterling near the Iliff and Proctor Interchange. It is about a half mile south of Interstate 76.
Five departments are working the fire.
Owens says no structures were destroyed and no injuries were reported.
