A Colorado Springs infant was taken off life-support and died Saturday. The boy’s baby-sitter is facing a murder charge, police said in a statement.

On Feb. 10, Sand Creek Division officers responded to a calls of a 2-month-old child who was not conscious and not breathing. The child was taken to Memorial Hospital and admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit.

An investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit led to the arrest of 23-year-old George Peters, the child’s baby-sitter, for suspicion of felony child abuse on Feb. 11.

With the death of the infant, Peters will now be facing a first-degree murder charge.

A autopsy is being performed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, and results are expected later this week.
