A drug lord who ran a multimillion-dollar cocaine ring from a ranch in Peyton pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court.
Oscar Arriola, whom federal authorities tagged in court documents as the head of the Arriola drug-trafficking organization, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import and distribute drugs plus money laundering, court records show. As part of the plea, federal prosecutors agreed to ask that Arriola receive 25 years in prison, though the judge will have the final say.
Arriola’s operation was broken up in 2004, when federal agents raided a ranch in Peyton, east of Colorado Springs, and seized more than 5,000 pounds of cocaine and $11 million in cash.
