The city of Denver has not received a resignation from its Manager of Safety, Mary Malatesta.

Jack Finlaw, Mayor Bill Vidal’s chief of staff, said Wednesday that the city has not received any letter or notification.

CBS Channel 4 reported Wednesday that Malatesta has told close associates she plans to resign for personal reasons.

Finlaw said that he certainly expects there to be heavy turnover in coming months during the transition to the next mayor after the election in May.

“I know a lot of the senior managers are in a state of considering their next career moves,” Finlaw said. “I am not going to discuss that with ( the media). Mary , like all senior managers, is an appointee and we assume she will be replaced by a new mayor.”

“I do expect the majority will give notice at some point. That’s just the life we will be living in over the next few months,” Finlaw said. Mary Malatesta was sworn in as the new Manager of Safety in September. She replaced Ron Perea, who resigned after two police officers were caught on camera beating a man in Lower Downtown. Perea did not fire the officers but later resigned.
