AURORA — The final week of Colorado’s 90th basketball season is here, 54 elimination games spread over four cities to be concluded by Saturday.

However, mind your times, dates and sites in a brisk ending marked by changes.

As usual, upper classifications will begin Wednesday at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where Class 5A and 4A girls will compete in their respective final fours. Boys will follow a day later, then titles will be decided Friday (girls) and Saturday (boys).

Here’s where it can be dicey — construction near the Coors Events Center for the Buffaloes’ new practice facility will make parking and entering the arena not as efficient as in past years. So allow for extra time if you are going to attend.

“That’s a good idea,” Colorado High School Activities Association assistant commissioner Bert Borgmann said.

There should be no problem for midrange, 3A, which will have its usual three-day takeover (beginning Thursday) of Moby Arena at Colorado State in Fort Collins. Class 2A will invade Massari Arena at CSU-Pueblo.

After much jostling, 1A will stay with its original plan, Northern Colorado’s Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley. The smallest class was left hanging because of potential conflicts with college postseason tournaments in Greeley, Golden and, for a brief while, Boulder.

The lower three classes will offer a combined 24 consolation games Friday and Saturday.
