Lauryn Hill hasn’t released an album of original material since 1998’s gorgeously explicit “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” which won five of the 10 Grammys for which it was nominated that year. But since “Miseducation” still stands as one of the most important hip-hop releases of all-time — from a male or female — Hill remains a towering figure in the genre, regardless of her well-publicized exile from the public eye. When Hill plays the Fillmore on April 23, it will be an event — hopefully a warm reminder of what makes her so important as an artist. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($57.10, )
Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour is the Cirque du Soleil production that will celebrate the King of Pop’s catalog, via acrobats and spectacle. They already announced one Pepsi Center show — on Jan. 6, 2012 — and another has been added on Jan. 7. Tickets go on sale at noon Saturday. ($50-$175, )
The Avett Brothers are the punk-bluegrass outfit with the infectious melodies that rocked the Grammys alongside Mumford & Sons and Bob Dylan — and now the group has its own headlining date at Red Rocks on July 9. North Carolina brothers Seth and Scott Avett are loved for their stellar live shows and big hooks. Tickets will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. ($37.50-$45, )
Bassnectar is one of the biggest dubstep DJs in the world, and so it’s only fitting that he’ll headline his own Red Rocks date this summer on June 18. The DJ headlined the Snow Ball in Vail last weekend — see our review and pictures at Reverb, — and he’s bringing Beats Antique and Eskmo along with him for his date in Morrison. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($37.50-$40, )
Journey still kicks out the ’80s-styled, arena-rock jams, and to members’ credit, they’re still writing new music. The band’s new release, “Eclipse,” will be the focus of the group’s big show at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre this fall on Oct. 1. Foreigner and Night Ranger will open the show.
