Vail Resorts today announced it is planning $30 million in capital improvements at its recently acquired Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort near Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The Broomfield-based resort operator said it would install a new high-speed chairlift that would access expanded terrain, increasing the area’s skiable acres by 10 percent. Other improvements include building a 500-seat on-mountain restaurant as well as stores and a new restaurant in the area’s Village at Northstar.
Vail chief executive Rob Katz said in a statement that his company’s combination of its Heavenly and Northstar season pass has put the company’s newest and sixth resort on track for a record season for both visitation and revenue.
“We believe we are in the early stages of realizing tremendous potential at that resort,” said Katz in the statement.
