FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Taylor Helbig scored 18 points to lead top-seeded Holy Family to a 59-38 win over Jefferson Academy in the Class 3A girls state semifinals Friday night.
Three-time defending champion Holy Family (25-1) led 19-16 at halftime, but Jefferson Academy (18-8) got 11 points from Madison Page and was within 22-20 early in the third quarter. Holy Family then made three straight 3-pointers, two by Megan Chavez, to make it a 31-20 game.
Jefferson Academy came to within 47-36, but Helbig clinched the game for Holy Family by making all eight of her free throw attempts in the final 3:07.
