STOWE, Vt.—The University of Vermont’s Tim Kelley is the new national champion in the men’s slalom, while UVM has finished the 2011 NCAA Ski Championships in six place.
The Catamounts played host to the four-day event, which wound up Saturday at Stowe Mountain Resort and Trapp Family Lodge.
UVM finished the 58th Annual NCAA Ski Championships in sixth place after holding the No. 1 spot in the Ski Racing Magazine Power Rankings for much of the regular season.
While the Catamounts battled bad luck and tough conditions throughout the championships, Kelley had a blistering run of 51.03 for his second run to earn the national title with a two-run total of 1:39.42.event.
The Colorado Buffaloes led wire-to-wire to capture the school’s 18th national title in skiing and sixth title since the sport went coed in 1983.
