A man accused of groping an employee inside an Evergreen church has been arrested.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 26-year-old Gage Walker Lopez, according to a media release.
On March 7, at about 10 a.m., a man entered the Evergreen Lutheran Church, 5980 Highway 73, and told a woman working there that he was from the area, was out walking and needed a place to warm up, the sheriff’s office said.
The woman lost track of the man, but saw him in the church again about an hour later. Working, the woman lost track of him again until about 12:45 p.m. when he entered her work area while masturbating, the sheriff’s office said.
The woman confronted the man and yelled: “Get out!”
He groped the victim and fled the church.
An anonymous tip led to Lopez as the suspect, the sheriff’s office said, and he was arrested Sunday on suspicion of burglary and unlawful sexual contact.
Lopez is being at the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
