A man whose brush fire went out of control and destroyed two homes in northern Colorado has filed a notice saying he intends to sue 13 agencies that fought the fire and state and city officials.

Joel Ledermann pleaded guilty to misdemeanor arson for the wildfire that burned 740 acres in the foothills west of Loveland in September. He was sentenced to community service and three years of probation, and was ordered to pay restitution.

Attorney Bradley Ross-Shannon said his client’s legal liability could be reduced if he can show that firefighters mishandled the response to the fire.
