LAKEWOOD — Lakewood police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a man crossing West Colfax Avenue on Saturday night and sped away.
The 45-year-old man, who was then hit by a second car, was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital with life- threatening injuries. Police are waiting until they contact the victim’s next of kin before identifying him.
“The victim was walking in the crosswalk but may have been walking against the red signal,” said Sgt. Randy McNitt.
The accident happened at about 10:55 p.m. at West Colfax and Kendall Street, according to police.
The first vehicle was traveling east on Colfax when it hit the man. Police are looking for a recent-model silver sedan that left the scene.
The car struck the victim with a glancing blow, and he was hit by the second vehicle. That driver, Martin Parras, 43, stopped about a block away from the accident. Police arrested him on suspicion of vehicular assault, McNitt said.
