NIWOT, Colo.—Niwot-based Crocs Inc. has given layoff notices to 22 employees.

Crocs spokeswoman Shelley Weibel told the Daily Camera in an email that the layoffs affect employees with accounting roles at the shoemaker, best known for its lightweight clogs. She says the 22 workers will remain employed until June or July.

Weibel said Monday the company is cutting workers to “rebalance skills” and improve cost competitiveness “in response to changing business needs.”

As of Dec. 31, Crocs had about 4,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.

The layoff notices come as Crocs continues to look for a new chief financial officer to replace Russell Hammer. He resigned effective Dec. 31 to take the same position at Orbitz Worldwide Inc.
