Poudre Valley Health System – which operates hospitals in Fort Collins and Loveland – are in critical need of blood donations, said spokesman Kevin Darst.

The hospitals are especially short of O-negative and O-positive blood types, Darst said.

The donation process takes about 45 minutes. Darst said this includes the time needed to fill out health history and consent forms. The actual drawing of blood, he said, takes five to 10 minutes.
