Police in Colorado Springs took a man and a woman into custody early this morning after going to an apartment complex in response to an alcohol-fueled melee.

Just after midnight officers were called to the 500 block of East Arvada Street on a large fight involving about a dozen people, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.

At the complex police contacted a resident who was “unable to maintain a logical conversation thread.” The intoxicated man, identified as Anthony Sleet, became violent and was arrested on suspicion of obstruction.

Police said a woman who lives in the same apartment as Sleet was found at a nearby apartment. Angelina Brown, 36, was extremely intoxicated, police said, and she “appeared to be under the influence of an unknown chemical substance.”

Officers were going to take Brown to Memorial Hospital for an evaluation when she became combative and kicked an officer in the face, police said.

Brown was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and taken to the Colorado Springs Jail.
