The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information that might help identify who spray painted graffiti earlier this month in the Spruce Mountain Open Space.

About 33 sites and items — from rocks, signs and a picnic table — were “tagged,” Douglas County Sgt. Ron Hanavan said. The graffiti, which occurred sometime before March 17 near the Palmer Lake area, included profanity.

Anyone who may be able to help identify the markings or the people responsible are encouraged to call the tip line at 303-784-7801.The office also released tips for residents on preventing graffiti in your neighborhood:

– Keep up the appearance of the neighborhood. Remove litter and trash.

– Remove graffiti promptly.

– Report it to authorities right away.

– Talk to youth in your neighborhood about the negative effect of graffiti.
