Parents wanted answers and they got them Tuesday evening. About 40 people attended a meeting with Aurora Public School District officials and Aurora Police after the arrest of longtime DARE Officer Michael Mangino.
“I asked my son a lot of questions and he told me he never gave children, little girls or little boys, special attention,” parent Latasha Whitehead said.
Many parents said their children looked up to the 50-year-old Mangino. He worked closely with children during his 29-year law enforcement career.
The arrest warrant accuses Mangino of sexually exploiting a 15-year-old runaway on March 9 at The Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
