Patients who received health insurance from a plan that covers pre-existing conditions will no longer receive treatment from the Poudre Valley Health System as of April 1, according to a letter to plan participants from CoverColorado’s executive director.
CoverColorado, which offers insurance to people who have a pre-existing medical condition and have had prior insurance coverage, has about 300 members in northern Colorado out of 12,000 members statewide.
The letter from Suzanne Bragg-Gamble, CoverColorado’s executive director, said that PVHS’s decision came in response to CoverColorado’s late-February announcement that it was changing the way it pays health care providers. It said that physicians, hospitals, therapists and other providers to CoverColorado members would be paid a set fee for services, rather than the discount negotiated by the plan’s administrator.
