GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show a Clifton man jailed after the death of his infant daughter has previously been convicted of charges including escape in Denver.

District Attorney Pete Hautzinger told a judge Thursday that 30-year-old Manuel Angel Rivera would be prosecuted as a habitual criminal in the death of his daughter. Officials say 18-month-old Analeisa died March 6 of oxycodone intoxication.

Manuel Rivera was ordered held on $500,000 bond.

He faces charges of child abuse recklessly causing death and possession of a controlled substance. The Daily Sentinel reports Rivera will be charged formally next week.

An arrest warrant affidavit remains sealed.
