FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A 27-year-old Fort Collins man has been charged with identity theft and forgery on allegations that he fraudulently produced checks and identification cards.
Todd James Kraft was arrested Wednesday by the Northern Colorado Financial Crimes Task Force. Prosecutors say the alleged victims were from northern Colorado and Wyoming.
Kraft has also been charged with possession of identity theft tools and fraud by check. He is being held on a $100,000 bond in Larimer County. His first court appearance is scheduled Monday.
Officials at the Larimer County district attorney’s office say the task force and the U.S. Secret Service have been extensively investigating fraudulent checks and IDs over the past few months.
The task force was formed in 2010 because of a growing trend in financial crimes in northern Colorado.
