A mix of snow and rain brought relief to a parched northeast Colorado, but gusty winds and low humidity will quickly reignite possible fire danger.

“Fire danger will be elevated today with low humidities and breezy northwest winds developing in most areas by this afternoon,” according to the National Weather Service.

Winds are expected to pick up tonight and some areas along the Front Range foothills could see up to 60 mph gusts, the weather service warns.

On Tuesday winds could gust up to 70 mph, the weather service said, and a “fire weather watch” will be posted on Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night for the foothills. Tuesday should be the warmest, most dry day of the week for most areas of the state.

On Wednesday a weak weather system could bring a chance of snow to the mountains and rain showers to the eastern plains by Wednesday night.

There’s a chance of snow showers in the mountains on Thursday and Friday with a slight chance of rain showers at lower elevations.

In Denver skies will be mostly sunny today and tomorrow, with the high temperature today reaching about 51 degrees. Tuesday’s high in the city should be about 70 degrees.

There’s a slight chance of showers in the city Wednesday through Friday and the high temperature should be about 60 degrees each day.
