MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade received treatment on his bruised right thigh Monday.
Wade said he did not know if he would be able to practice today or play against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
• Charlotte Bobcats leading scorer Stephen Jackson (18.5 points) said he’ll miss a third straight game today at Cleveland with continued pain in his left hamstring.
Schnyder upset in first round
CHARLESTON, S.C. — South African Chanelle Scheepers upset No. 13 seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 6-4, 6-4, and American Vania King upset No. 16 seed Verna Dushevina 6-4, 7-6 (7) in the first round of the Family Circle Cup.
Jill Craybas also advanced, beating crowd favorite Shelby Rogers of Daniel Island 3-6, 6-2, 6-0. Rogers is a one-time ball girl.
• Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay polished off Ricardo Mello of Brazil in 53 minutes with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the first round of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston.
Eighth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria beat Rainer Schuettler of Germany, 6-0, 6-2 in 63 minutes.
Top-seeded Mardy Fish, the highest-ranking American, and second-seeded Sam Querry of the U.S. drew first round byes.
IOC to vote on winter sports
LONDON — After a five-year wait and an unsuccessful legal battle to get into the 2010 Vancouver Games, women’s ski jumping is set to take its place on the Olympic program this week.
Women’s jumping is among six events, including snowboard slopestyle and freestyle skiing, up for consideration by the International Olympic Committee for inclusion at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
The IOC executive board, which opens a two-day meeting in the British capital today, also will review guidelines for gender tests.
• World anti-doping chiefs are considering scrapping the B sample in doping tests as a cost-saving measure. Any change to the regulations would not be incorporated in the WADA code before January 1, 2015.
