A couple whose 9-month-old baby was towed – along with their illegally parked car – in November have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor attempted child abuse, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Guadalupe Torres-Sanchez, 33, was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to attend parenting classes after the plea Tuesday.

Rene Calderon, 33, pleaded guilty earlier this year and appears for sentencing April 15.

An Excalibur Towing truck had towed the couple’s car about two miles from 2146 Curtis St. on the evening of Nov. 30 before the mother called 911 and the towing company to report her missing daughter.

The child was eventually found uninjured in the back, her carseat covered by blankets.

Parents or guardians who act in a reckless manner that endangers a child, but does not injure the child, can be charged with a Class 2 misdemeanor count of child abuse.

The maximum penalty for the charge is two years in county jail.
